Ingredients

Salmon

  • 4 salmon fillets (1 pound total)

Glaze

  • 1/4 cup maple syrup
  • 2 tablespoons low sodium soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder

Garnish (optional)

  • Sliced green onions

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350° F (175° C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set it aside for easy cleanup and to prevent sticking.
  2. Make the Glaze: In a measuring glass or bowl, whisk together the maple syrup, low sodium soy sauce, Dijon mustard, smoked paprika, and garlic powder until well combined. Pour a couple of tablespoons of this glaze into a separate small bowl and set aside for later use.
  3. Prepare Salmon: Place the salmon fillets on the prepared baking sheet. Pat them dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture and season lightly with a pinch of salt. Brush each fillet generously with half of the maple glaze mixture to coat.
  4. Bake First Phase: Place the salmon in the preheated oven and bake for 7 minutes. This initial baking sets the glaze and starts cooking the salmon gently.
  5. Glaze and Bake Again: Remove the salmon from the oven and brush it with the remaining glaze to build more flavor and shine. Return the salmon to the oven and bake for an additional 7 minutes or until the internal temperature of the salmon reaches 130° F (54° C) for medium doneness.
  6. Serve: Once cooked, remove the salmon from the oven and drizzle the reserved glaze over the top for an extra burst of flavor. Garnish with sliced green onions if desired. Serve the salmon with steamed rice or noodles and your favorite vegetable side dish for a complete meal.

Notes

  • Ensure not to overcook the salmon to keep it tender and moist. An internal temperature of 130° F is ideal for medium doneness.
  • You can substitute low sodium soy sauce with tamari or coconut aminos if you want a gluten-free option.
  • Use fresh salmon fillets for the best flavor and texture.
  • The glaze can be made ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
  • Leftover salmon can be refrigerated for up to 2 days and enjoyed cold or reheated gently.
