Butterscotch and Milk Chocolate Puppy Chow is a sweet and crunchy snack made with Chex cereal, butterscotch chips, milk chocolate, and peanut butter. Coated in powdered sugar, this irresistible treat is perfect for parties, movie nights, or as a fun gift. With a rich combination of chocolate and butterscotch, this snack is always a crowd-pleaser!
9 cups Chex cereal (rice or corn)
½ cup butterscotch chips
½ cup milk chocolate chips
½ cup creamy peanut butter
¼ cup butter
½ tsp vanilla extract
1½ cups powdered sugar
In a large bowl, add the Chex cereal and set it aside.
In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the butterscotch chips, milk chocolate chips, peanut butter, and butter. Microwave on high for 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until melted and smooth.
Stir in the vanilla extract to the melted mixture.
Pour the melted chocolate mixture over the Chex cereal, gently stirring to coat evenly.
Transfer the coated cereal to a large resealable plastic bag or a bowl with a lid. Add the powdered sugar, seal the bag or cover the bowl, and shake or stir until all of the cereal is coated with powdered sugar.
Spread the Puppy Chow on a baking sheet or wax paper to cool and set.
Once cooled, serve and enjoy! Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature.
You can swap the butterscotch and milk chocolate chips for white chocolate or dark chocolate chips for a different flavor.
Add chopped nuts like peanuts or cashews for extra crunch.
