Ingredients

Salmon

  • 4 salmon fillets (skin on)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons Cajun seasoning
  • Salt (to taste)

Honey Butter Sauce

  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • Juice of ½ lemon

Garnish

  • Fresh parsley (chopped)
  • Lemon wedges
  • Black sesame seeds

Instructions

  1. Season the Salmon: Pat the salmon fillets dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture. Rub each fillet evenly with olive oil, then generously season both sides with Cajun seasoning and salt to taste.
  2. Sear the Salmon: Heat a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Place the salmon fillets skin-side up and sear for about 3 minutes until a nice golden crust forms. Flip the fillets so the skin side is down and cook for an additional 2 minutes to crisp the skin.
  3. Make the Honey Butter Sauce: While the salmon is cooking, melt the butter in a small saucepan over medium heat. Add honey, soy sauce, and minced garlic, stirring continuously until well combined. Let the sauce simmer gently for a couple of minutes until fragrant, then remove from heat and stir in the freshly squeezed lemon juice.
  4. Combine and Cook: Pour the warm honey butter sauce over the salmon fillets in the skillet. Continue cooking the salmon over medium heat, regularly spooning the sauce over the fillets, for another 3 to 5 minutes until the salmon is cooked through and thoroughly glazed.
  5. Garnish and Serve: Once cooked, transfer the salmon to plates, garnish with freshly chopped parsley, lemon wedges, and sprinkle with black sesame seeds. Serve immediately for best flavor and texture.

Notes

  • For best results, ensure the salmon fillets are evenly thick for consistent cooking.
  • You can substitute soy sauce with tamari for a gluten-free option.
  • Adjust the amount of Cajun seasoning according to your preferred spice level.
  • If black sesame seeds are unavailable, toasted white sesame seeds can be used as a garnish.
  • Serve with steamed vegetables or a fresh salad for a complete meal.
