Caprese on a Stick is a fun, bite-sized appetizer that combines the fresh, vibrant flavors of a Caprese salad cherry tomatoes, mozzarella, basil, and olive oil perfect for parties, picnics, or as a light snack.

Ingredients

1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved

1 (.6 ounce) package fresh basil leaves

1 (16 ounce) package small fresh mozzarella balls

Toothpicks

3 tablespoons olive oil

Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare the ingredients: Start by halving the cherry tomatoes and washing the fresh basil leaves. Drain the mozzarella balls if they are packed in water.
  2. Assemble the skewers: Take a toothpick and thread it with one half of a cherry tomato, followed by a basil leaf, and then a mozzarella ball. Repeat this process until you’ve assembled as many skewers as you’d like.
  3. Drizzle with olive oil: Once all the skewers are prepared, arrange them on a serving platter. Drizzle olive oil evenly over the skewers.
  4. Season: Sprinkle the Caprese on a Stick with salt and pepper to taste. For extra flavor, you can also drizzle a bit of balsamic glaze if desired.
  5. Serve: Serve immediately as a fresh appetizer, or chill in the refrigerator for a short while before serving.

Notes

For added flavor, drizzle balsamic glaze over the skewers just before serving.

Wrap small pieces of prosciutto around the mozzarella for a savory touch.

Use vegan mozzarella for a plant-based version of this appetizer.

Fresh mozzarella balls (bocconcini or ciliegine) are recommended for the best texture and flavor.
