Caramel Corn Puffs are a deliciously addictive snack made with puffed corn and a rich caramel coating. This easy-to-make treat is perfect for satisfying your sweet tooth and can be enjoyed as a quick snack or a fun party treat. The balance of sweetness and crunch makes this caramel popcorn a must-try!

Ingredients

1 bag puff corn (about 5 ounces, or 1 ½ bags of your preferred brand)

1 cup brown sugar

½ cup butter or margarine

¼ cup light corn syrup

½ teaspoon vanilla extract

Pinch of salt

¼ teaspoon baking soda

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 250°F (120°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or spray it with nonstick cooking spray.

  • In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter or margarine. Once melted, add the brown sugar, corn syrup, and a pinch of salt. Stir frequently until the mixture comes to a boil.

  • Let the caramel mixture boil for 3-4 minutes, stirring occasionally. Be sure to keep an eye on it to prevent burning.

  • Remove the saucepan from heat and carefully stir in the baking soda and vanilla extract. The mixture will bubble up.

  • Immediately pour the caramel over the puff corn in a large bowl, making sure to coat each piece evenly. Stir gently to combine.

  • Spread the caramel-coated puff corn onto the prepared baking sheet in an even layer.

  • Bake in the preheated oven for about 45 minutes, stirring every 15 minutes to ensure even coating and prevent burning.

  • Once done, remove from the oven and let the caramel corn cool completely on the baking sheet before serving or storing.

Notes

For added crunch and flavor, try incorporating chopped nuts like pecans, walnuts, or almonds.

You can drizzle melted chocolate over the cooled caramel corn for a chocolate-caramel twist.

A dash of cinnamon in the caramel mixture adds a cozy spiced flavor.

To make a savory version, omit the sugar and use a mixture of melted butter, Parmesan cheese, and garlic powder for cheesy puffed corn.
