Cheesy Cauliflower Steak is a low-carb, savory alternative to traditional steak, offering a deliciously cheesy topping over perfectly roasted cauliflower. The tender cauliflower is seasoned with garlic and olive oil, then topped with melted cheese for a satisfying, comfort-filled meal. This dish can be served as a main or a side, making it an ideal choice for anyone looking for a lighter, vegetable-packed option that’s still rich in flavor and indulgence.

Ingredients

1 large cauliflower head

2 tbsp olive oil

½ tsp garlic

½ tsp salt

¼ tsp black pepper

1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, Parmesan, or a mix)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Cauliflower:

    • Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).

    • Remove the leaves and stem from the cauliflower. Slice the cauliflower into thick “steaks” (1 to 1.5 inches thick).

  2. Season the Cauliflower:

    • In a small bowl, mix together the olive oil, garlic, salt, and pepper.

    • Brush both sides of the cauliflower steaks with the olive oil mixture.

  3. Roast the Cauliflower:

    • Place the cauliflower steaks on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

    • Roast for 20-25 minutes, flipping halfway, until the cauliflower is golden and tender.

  4. Add the Cheese:

    • Remove the cauliflower from the oven and sprinkle the shredded cheese on top.

    • Return the steaks to the oven for 5-7 minutes, until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

  5. Serve:

    • Serve the cheesy cauliflower steaks hot. Garnish with fresh herbs or a drizzle of olive oil if desired.

Notes

Add red pepper flakes or sliced jalapeños for a spicy kick.

Fresh herbs like parsley, thyme, or rosemary can enhance the flavor of the dish.

You can mix different cheeses (cheddar, mozzarella, Parmesan) for a richer flavor.

For a vegan version, use dairy-free cheese alternatives.
