Beef and Broccoli Stir-Fry is a quick and flavorful dish featuring tender beef and vibrant broccoli in a savory sauce made with soy, oyster, and hoisin sauces. Ingredients

1 lb (450g) beef (sliced against the grain into 0.5 cm/1/4 inch thick slices or 1 cm/1/2 inch sticks)

2 tablespoons soy sauce

1 tablespoon peanut oil

1 tablespoon cornstarch

1 lb (450g) broccoli, cut into florets

2 tablespoons vegetable oil

3 cloves garlic, minced

1-inch piece ginger, minced

1/4 cup water

3 tablespoons soy sauce

1 tablespoon oyster sauce

1 tablespoon hoisin sauce

1 teaspoon cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons water

Instructions

  • Prepare the Beef: Slice the beef and marinate with 2 tablespoons soy sauce, 1 tablespoon peanut oil, and 1 tablespoon cornstarch. Let it sit for 10 minutes.

  • Make the Sauce: Combine 3 tablespoons soy sauce, 1 tablespoon oyster sauce, 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce, and 1 teaspoon cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons water in a bowl. Stir to dissolve the cornstarch.

  • Steam the Broccoli: Boil 1/4 cup water in a skillet, add broccoli, and steam for 1 minute. Set aside.

  • Cook the Beef: Heat 2 tablespoons vegetable oil in the skillet. Cook the beef in a single layer until browned, then flip and cook until lightly charred. Remove and set aside.

  • Add Garlic and Ginger: Stir in minced garlic and ginger, cooking for a few seconds until fragrant.

  • Combine Everything: Return broccoli to the skillet, pour in the sauce, and stir for 1 minute until the sauce thickens and coats the beef and broccoli.

  • Serve: Serve immediately, hot.
