This Chunky Citrus Guacamole is a zesty, fresh twist on the classic guacamole, featuring ripe avocados combined with bright orange and lime juices, aromatic garlic, jalapeño heat, and a perfect balance of spices. Ready in just 5 minutes, it’s perfect for serving as a dip with tortilla chips, fresh veggies, or as a flavorful topping for sandwiches.

Ingredients

Guacamole Mixture

  • 5 avocados, chopped
  • 1/3 cup white onion, diced
  • 1/3 cup tomato, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 jalapeño, seeds and veins removed, finely diced

Citrus and Seasoning

  • 1 small orange, juiced (about 1/4 cup)
  • 1 lime, juiced (about 1/8 cup)
  • 1/4 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/8 teaspoon smoked paprika (optional)
  • Kosher salt, to taste

Instructions

  1. Mash Avocados: In a medium bowl, mash three of the avocados until it reaches a chunky consistency, leaving some pieces intact for texture.
  2. Combine Ingredients: Add the remaining two chopped avocados, diced onion, tomato, minced garlic, and finely diced jalapeño to the mashed avocado bowl.
  3. Add Citrus Juices and Seasoning: Squeeze the fresh orange and lime juices over the avocado mixture. Sprinkle in chili powder, smoked paprika, and kosher salt to taste.
  4. Mix Well: Gently mix all ingredients until combined, ensuring the citrus distributes evenly without over-mashing the avocado.
  5. Taste and Adjust: Taste the guacamole and add more orange or lime juice, salt, or chili powder as desired for optimal flavor balance.
  6. Serve: Serve immediately with tortilla chips, fresh sliced vegetables, or use as a vibrant topping for sandwiches.

Notes

  • For best results, use ripe but firm avocados to achieve a chunky texture.
  • Remove seeds and veins from jalapeño to control heat level.
  • Smoked paprika is optional but adds a subtle smokey depth to the guacamole.
  • Serve immediately to prevent browning, or cover tightly with plastic wrap pressed directly on the surface and refrigerate for up to 2 hours.
  • Adjust citrus juice amounts based on your preferred acidity level.
