Savory meatballs simmered in a sweet, tangy cranberry-orange sauce with chili and honey. Perfect as a holiday appetizer or a quick main dish with rice or mashed potatoes.

Ingredients

1.5 lbs frozen fully cooked meatballs

1 can whole berry cranberry sauce

1 cup orange juice

1/3 cup honey

1/2 cup chili sauce

Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. In a large saucepan, combine cranberry sauce, orange juice, honey, chili sauce, salt, and pepper over medium heat.
  2. Stir until smooth and bring to a simmer.
  3. Add frozen meatballs directly to the pan and stir to coat with the sauce.
  4. Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 15–20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until meatballs are heated through and sauce thickens slightly.
  5. Serve hot as an appetizer with toothpicks or as a main dish over rice, pasta, or mashed potatoes.

Notes

Add soy sauce for extra savory depth.

Substitute pineapple juice for orange juice for a tropical twist.

Spice it up with red pepper flakes, hot sauce, or sriracha.

Maple syrup or brown sugar can replace honey.

Jellied cranberry sauce works as a substitute for whole berry.
