This creamy beef and bowtie pasta is a comforting one-pot meal combining tender ground beef, flavorful spices, and creamy cheddar sauce with perfectly cooked farfalle pasta. Ready in 30 minutes, it makes for a hearty family dinner that’s both satisfying and easy to prepare.

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • ½ cup medium onion, diced
  • 2 teaspoons minced garlic
  • Salt, to taste
  • Pepper, to taste
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 3 cups beef broth
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 3 cups bowtie pasta (farfalle), dry measurement
  • 1½ cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • Garnish: fresh parsley and extra shredded cheddar cheese (optional)

Instructions

  1. Browning the Beef: In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the lean ground beef along with the diced onion and minced garlic. Stir constantly to crumble the beef evenly and cook until there is no pink remaining. Season the mixture with salt, pepper, and paprika to enhance the flavor.
  2. Adding Liquids and Pasta: Stir in the beef broth and heavy whipping cream into the skillet. Then add the dry bowtie pasta to the mixture. Increase the heat and bring everything to a boil to start the cooking process for the pasta.
  3. Simmering the Pasta: Once boiling, reduce the heat to a simmer and cover the skillet. Let the pasta cook for 10 to 12 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking. Continue cooking until the pasta is tender and most of the liquid has been absorbed.
  4. Finishing with Cheese: Reduce the heat to low and add the shredded cheddar cheese into the skillet. Stir gently until the cheese melts and is just combined, creating a creamy cheese sauce coating the pasta and beef. Serve warm, optionally garnished with fresh parsley and extra cheese for added flavor and presentation.

Notes

  • Stir occasionally during simmering to avoid pasta sticking to the skillet bottom.
  • Using lean ground beef reduces excess grease and keeps the dish healthier.
  • Adjust salt and pepper according to your taste preference.
  • If desired, substitute heavy whipping cream with half-and-half for a lighter version but expect less creaminess.
  • Fresh parsley adds a nice color and fresh flavor if used as garnish.
