These Dark Chocolate Nut Squares are a crunchy, nutritious snack packed with a variety of raw nuts and seeds, lightly sweetened with maple syrup and topped with rich melted dark chocolate. Perfect for a healthy energy boost or a guilt-free treat.

Ingredients

Nuts and Seeds

  • 75g raw almonds
  • 55g raw cashews
  • 30g raw pecans
  • 40g pumpkin seeds
  • 1/2 tbsp chia seeds

Other Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 tbsp maple syrup
  • Pinch of salt
  • 50g dark chocolate, melted

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 180°C (160°C fan) or 350°F to ensure it’s ready for baking the nut mixture.
  2. Mix nuts and seeds: In a large bowl, combine the raw almonds, cashews, pecans, pumpkin seeds, chia seeds, a pinch of salt, and the maple syrup. Stir everything well to coat the nuts evenly with the syrup and distribute the seeds and salt throughout.
  3. Press into molds: Transfer the nut and seed mixture into your chosen molds—for example, a square silicone ice tray works well. Press the mixture firmly to ensure it holds together once baked.
  4. Bake: Place the molds on a baking tray and bake in the preheated oven for 20 to 25 minutes, or until the nut squares are golden brown and crunchy.
  5. Cool completely: Remove from the oven and let the nut squares cool fully in the molds. Cooling is important so they set and become firm.
  6. Add the chocolate: Drizzle the melted dark chocolate over the cooled nut squares or dip each square individually for a chocolaty coating.
  7. Set the chocolate: Place the chocolate-coated nut squares in the refrigerator just until the chocolate hardens and sets.
  8. Enjoy: Once set, your Dark Chocolate Nut Squares are ready to enjoy as a wholesome snack!

Notes

  • You can substitute any nuts or seeds based on preference or availability.
  • If you prefer less sweetness, reduce the maple syrup slightly.
  • Use at least 70% cocoa dark chocolate for a rich, less sweet taste.
  • Silicone molds help with easy removal, but you can also use a lined baking dish.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator to maintain freshness and crunch.
