Indulge in the rich and decadent flavors of Crockpot Chocolate Turtle Candy, a delightful treat combining layers of semi-sweet and milk chocolate, gooey caramel, and crunchy roasted pecans, finished with a hint of flaky sea salt for that perfect sweet and salty balance. This easy-to-make candy uses a slow cooker to gently melt and blend the ingredients, resulting in a smooth, luscious confection guaranteed to satisfy any chocolate lover’s craving.

Ingredients

Chocolate Layer

  • 16 oz semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 16 oz milk chocolate chips

Caramel Layer

  • 16 oz caramel bits
  • 1 tablespoon heavy cream

Nuts and Seasoning

  • 3 cups whole roasted pecans
  • ½ teaspoon flaky sea salt (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Crockpot: Lightly grease the bottom and sides of the crockpot with non-stick spray or a small amount of butter to ensure easy removal of the candy.
  2. Melt the Chocolate Chips: Add the semi-sweet and milk chocolate chips to the crockpot. Set the crockpot on low heat and allow the chocolate to melt gently, stirring occasionally to ensure the chips combine smoothly without burning.
  3. Melt the Caramel: In a separate microwave-safe bowl, combine the caramel bits with the heavy cream. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until the caramel is fully melted and creamy.
  4. Layer the Candy: Once the chocolate chips have melted and are smooth, pour half of the melted chocolate mixture evenly into the bottom of the crockpot. Sprinkle half of the roasted pecans over the chocolate layer. Next, drizzle half of the caramel mixture over the pecans. Repeat the layers with the remaining chocolate, pecans, and caramel, creating a layered effect.
  5. Finish and Chill: Sprinkle the top with flaky sea salt if using. Cover the crockpot and allow the candy to set by letting it cool to room temperature, then transfer to the refrigerator for at least 2 hours or until firm.
  6. Serve: Once set, carefully remove the candy from the crockpot, cut into squares or desired shapes, and serve. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator.

Notes

  • For easier cutting and serving, line the crockpot with parchment paper before beginning to layer the ingredients.
  • If you don’t have a crockpot, a microwave-safe dish can be used to layer and chill the candy instead.
  • Use roasted pecans for best flavor; you may lightly toast raw pecans in a dry skillet if needed.
  • Flaky sea salt is optional but adds a lovely contrast to the sweetness.
  • Store candy in the refrigerator to maintain firmness, especially in warm climates.
