Ingredients

Pie Filling:

5 large tart apples, peeled and thinly sliced

⅔ cup sugar

5 teaspoons all-purpose flour

1¼ teaspoons ground cinnamon

1 (9-inch) deep dish frozen pie crust

Topping:

⅔ cup all-purpose flour

⅓ cup sugar

⅓ cup packed brown sugar

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

6 tablespoons cold butter

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).

  • Toss sliced apples with sugar, flour, and cinnamon in a large bowl until coated.

  • Place frozen pie crust in pan; pour apple mixture evenly into crust.

  • Combine flour, sugars, and cinnamon for topping; cut in cold butter until coarse crumbs form.

  • Sprinkle topping evenly over apples.

  • Bake 55-65 minutes until topping is golden and filling bubbles; cover edges halfway if browning too fast.

  • Cool at least 1 hour before slicing to set filling.

Notes

Add chopped nuts to topping for crunch.

Use Granny Smith or a mix of tart apples for flavor depth.

Add vanilla or lemon juice to filling for extra aroma.

Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.

Homemade crust can be substituted for frozen.
