Soft and spiced eggnog cookies topped with creamy eggnog frosting, perfect for the holiday season.

Ingredients

3/4 cup butter, softened

1/2 cup sugar

1/2 cup brown sugar

2 egg yolks

1/2 cup eggnog

1 teaspoon vanilla

2 1/4 cups flour

2 teaspoons baking powder

1 teaspoon nutmeg

1 teaspoon cinnamon

1/2 teaspoon salt

Eggnog Frosting:

1/2 cup butter, softened

3 cups powdered sugar

4 Tablespoons eggnog (add more if needed)

1/2 teaspoon nutmeg

1/4 teaspoon cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Cream together butter, sugar, and brown sugar until fluffy.
  3. Add egg yolks, eggnog, and vanilla; mix until smooth.
  4. In another bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, nutmeg, cinnamon, and salt.
  5. Gradually add dry ingredients to wet mixture and stir until combined.
  6. Drop spoonfuls of dough onto prepared baking sheet, leaving space between cookies.
  7. Bake for 10–12 minutes, until edges are lightly golden. Let cool completely.
  8. For frosting: beat butter until creamy, then add powdered sugar, eggnog, nutmeg, and cinnamon until smooth.
  9. Spread frosting on cooled cookies and sprinkle with extra nutmeg if desired.

Notes

Add a pinch of cloves for deeper spice.

For chewier cookies, slightly underbake them.

Decorate with cinnamon sugar or drizzle with white chocolate.

Store in an airtight container at room temperature for 3 days, refrigerate up to a week, or freeze up to 2 months.
