½ tsp vanilla extract (optional)

Green food coloring (gel or liquid)

1 cup chocolate chips (semi-sweet or milk)

1 tbsp coconut oil or shortening

Candy eyes

Black writing gel or melted chocolate in a piping bag

Mini marshmallows or Tootsie Rolls

Lollipop sticks (optional)

Instructions

  1. Lightly grease a 9×13-inch pan or line with parchment paper.
  2. Melt butter in a large saucepan over low heat, then add mini marshmallows and stir until smooth.
  3. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla (if using) and green food coloring.
  4. Fold in Rice Krispies cereal until evenly coated.
  5. Press mixture into prepared pan and let cool completely.
  6. Cut into rectangles to form Frankenstein’s head.
  7. Melt chocolate chips with coconut oil until smooth, then dip tops of treats to make hair.
  8. Press candy eyes onto each treat while chocolate is still soft.
  9. Pipe on a mouth and scars with black gel or melted chocolate.
  10. Cut mini marshmallows or Tootsie Rolls in half for bolts and attach to sides with melted chocolate.
  11. If serving on sticks, insert lollipop sticks before decorating.

Notes

Use mini marshmallows for easier melting.

Grease spatula or hands when pressing mixture to prevent sticking.

Wrap individually for freshness if making ahead.

Do not refrigerate—keeps them soft and chewy.

For homemade eyes, use white chocolate chips with chocolate dots.
