Grilled Scallops are an elegant yet easy seafood dish that features sweet, tender scallops with a perfectly charred exterior. Seasoned with a simple olive oil, garlic, and lemon mix, this dish is quick to prepare and ideal for both casual meals and special occasions. The smoky grilled flavor combined with a fresh lemon finish makes these scallops a delicious and sophisticated treat.

Ingredients

12 large scallops, cleaned and patted dry

1 tbsp olive oil

1 tbsp lemon juice

1 tsp garlic powder

½ tsp salt

½ tsp black pepper

Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Lemon wedges (for serving)

Instructions

  • Prepare the Scallops:

    • Pat the scallops dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture. This will help achieve a nice sear when grilling.

    • In a small bowl, mix olive oil, lemon juice, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper.

  • Preheat the Grill:

    • Preheat your grill to medium-high heat. If you’re using a grill pan, heat it over medium-high heat as well.

  • Season the Scallops:

    • Brush the scallops with the prepared olive oil mixture, making sure each one is evenly coated.

  • Grill the Scallops:

    • Place the scallops on the grill or grill pan. Cook for 2-3 minutes on each side, or until the scallops are opaque and have nice grill marks. Be careful not to overcook them, as they can become rubbery.

  • Serve:

    • Remove the scallops from the grill and place them on a serving platter. Garnish with fresh parsley and serve with lemon wedges on the side for a fresh, zesty finish.

Notes

Spicy Grilled Scallops: Add a pinch of red pepper flakes or cayenne pepper to the olive oil mixture for a little heat.

Herbed Grilled Scallops: Add fresh herbs such as thyme, rosemary, or dill to the seasoning mix for a different flavor profile.

Garlic Butter Scallops: Brush the scallops with garlic butter instead of the olive oil mixture for a rich, buttery flavor.
