A fresh, elegant salad featuring juicy heirloom tomatoes, creamy burrata or mozzarella, fragrant basil, and a drizzle of olive oil. A timeless summer dish that’s simple yet stunning.

Ingredients

2 pounds mixed heirloom tomatoes or ripe tomatoes

8-ounce ball of burrata or mozzarella, preferably fresh

Handful of fresh basil leaves

3 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil

½ teaspoon flaky sea salt or ¼ teaspoon kosher salt, to taste

Freshly ground black pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Slice tomatoes into rounds or wedges and arrange on a platter.
  2. Tear or slice burrata or mozzarella and scatter over the tomatoes.
  3. Tuck basil leaves among the tomatoes and cheese.
  4. Drizzle with olive oil.
  5. Sprinkle with flaky sea salt and freshly ground black pepper.
  6. Serve immediately while fresh.

Notes

Add balsamic reduction for a tangy-sweet twist.

Use cherry or grape tomatoes if heirlooms aren’t available.

Add peaches or nectarines for a fruity variation.
