Homemade Danish Dessert is a simple and refreshing treat made with Kool-aid and fresh fruit. With vibrant berry flavors and a gel-like consistency, this dessert is easy to make and perfect as a standalone treat or as a topping for cakes and pies. Customize it with your favorite berries for a delightful crowd-pleaser!
1 Kool-aid packet (any berry flavor: strawberry, raspberry, cherry)
1 cup granulated sugar
¼ cup cornstarch
2 cups cold water
2–4 cups sliced strawberries or fresh raspberries (optional)
In a medium saucepan, combine the Kool-aid packet, sugar, and cornstarch. Stir the dry ingredients together.
Gradually add the cold water to the dry mixture while stirring to combine. Ensure there are no lumps.
Place the saucepan over medium heat and bring the mixture to a boil, stirring constantly. Once it boils, the mixture will begin to thicken.
Continue boiling and stirring for about 1-2 minutes until the mixture has thickened into a gel-like consistency.
Remove the saucepan from heat and let it cool for a few minutes.
If using fresh berries, fold in the sliced strawberries or raspberries into the mixture. Allow the dessert to cool completely at room temperature or chill in the fridge to speed up the process.
Once cooled and thickened, serve it on its own or as a topping for cakes, pies, or other desserts.
You can use any Kool-aid flavor you prefer, like raspberry, cherry, or tropical flavors, to create unique variations.
Add a mix of fruits such as blueberries, blackberries, or diced peaches for an extra fruity twist.
For a creamy touch, fold in whipped cream or serve as a topping for ice cream.
