Ingredients

Chicken and Seasonings

  • 2 lbs. organic chicken breasts
  • 1 Tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 2 tsps On Everything All-Purpose Blend
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika (optional)
  • 1 tsp sea salt

Hot Honey Sauce

  • 6 Tbsps unsalted butter
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 cup organic raw honey
  • 1 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp red pepper flakes
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp chili powder
  • Pinch of sea salt

Instructions

  1. Prep + Season Chicken: In a large bowl, combine the cleaned and rinsed chicken breasts with olive oil, sea salt, On Everything All-Purpose Blend, and smoked paprika. Mix well until each piece of chicken is evenly coated with the seasoning.
  2. Score the Chicken: Place the seasoned chicken breasts on a clean cutting board and make small, slit-like cuts about 1 inch apart across the top of each breast. This helps the marinade and sauce penetrate better.
  3. Marinate (Optional but Recommended): Transfer the coated chicken into a ziplock bag, securely seal, and refrigerate for at least 3 hours, preferably overnight for deeper flavor. Before cooking, let the chicken rest at room temperature for 15-20 minutes.
  4. Make the Hot Honey Sauce: Heat a medium 10-inch skillet over medium-high heat. Melt the butter, then add the minced garlic and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant. Stir in honey, cayenne pepper, chili powder, smoked paprika, garlic powder, red pepper flakes, and a pinch of sea salt. Continue stirring until the sauce is smooth and thick. Remove from heat.
  5. Prepare for Baking: Preheat your oven to 400°F (204°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Alternatively, you can use a baking skillet.
  6. Assemble Chicken for Baking: Arrange the seasoned chicken breasts on the prepared baking sheet or skillet with space between each piece. Spoon half of the hot honey sauce evenly over each breast, reserving the remaining sauce for later.
  7. Bake the Chicken: Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes until the chicken is golden brown, crispy on the outside, and cooked through internally (internal temperature of 165°F/74°C).
  8. Finish and Serve: Remove the chicken from the oven and let it cool slightly. Drizzle the remaining hot honey sauce over each breast. Serve warm with your choice of sides such as salad, pasta, basmati rice, or brown rice.
  9. Enjoy: Dig in and enjoy this flavorful, sweet, and spicy baked chicken dish!

Notes

  • Marinating the chicken overnight improves flavor and juiciness but is optional.
  • You can adjust the spice level by modifying the amount of cayenne pepper and red pepper flakes in the sauce.
  • Use a meat thermometer to ensure the chicken is fully cooked but remains juicy.
  • Leftover hot honey sauce can be stored in the refrigerator for up to one week.
  • For a dairy-free version, substitute butter with olive oil or a plant-based alternative.
