These Hot Honey Pepperoni Pizza Rolls are savory, cheesy, and delightfully spicy snacks perfect for game day or a fun appetizer. Made with layers of melted mozzarella, provolone, and cheddar cheese, spicy pepperoni, and fresh basil, all wrapped in soft pizza dough and finished with a drizzle of sweet and spicy hot honey glaze, these rolls combine classic pizza flavors with a zesty twist.

Ingredients

Pizza Rolls

  • 1 pound pizza dough
  • 2/3 cup marinara sauce
  • 2 tablespoons Italian or pizza seasoning
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup shredded provolone cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 8 ounces pepperoni, sliced
  • 1/2 cup fresh basil, chopped
  • Sea salt, to taste

Hot Honey

  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 2-3 tablespoons hot sauce (adjust based on heat preference)
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 3/4 teaspoon chipotle chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Dough: Roll out the pizza dough on a floured surface into a large rectangle about 1/4 inch thick to make it easier to roll and fill.
  2. Assemble the Filling: Spread marinara sauce evenly over the dough, then sprinkle with Italian seasoning. Layer the shredded mozzarella, provolone, and cheddar cheese evenly on top. Arrange the pepperoni slices over the cheese and sprinkle chopped fresh basil and sea salt on top.
  3. Roll and Slice: Starting from one long edge, carefully roll the dough tightly into a log. Using a sharp knife, slice the log into 1 to 1.5 inch wide rolls.
  4. Arrange Rolls on Baking Sheet: Place the slices cut-side up on a baking tray lined with parchment paper or a nonstick surface, leaving space between each roll for expansion.
  5. Bake the Rolls: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake the pizza rolls for about 20-25 minutes or until the dough is golden brown and cooked through, and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  6. Prepare the Hot Honey Sauce: While the rolls bake, combine honey, hot sauce, cayenne pepper, chipotle chili powder, garlic powder, and onion powder in a small saucepan. Warm the mixture over low heat, stirring occasionally until well combined and slightly thickened. Remove from heat.
  7. Drizzle and Serve: Once the pizza rolls are done baking, transfer them to a serving plate and generously drizzle with the hot honey sauce. Serve warm for the best flavor experience.

Notes

  • You can adjust the amount of hot sauce and cayenne pepper in the hot honey sauce according to your spice tolerance.
  • Fresh basil adds a nice herbal brightness, but you may substitute with dried basil if fresh is unavailable.
  • Make sure to roll the dough tightly to keep the filling intact while baking.
  • For a crispier crust, bake directly on a pizza stone or preheated baking sheet.
  • Store leftover rolls in an airtight container in the refrigerator up to 3 days; reheat in the oven for best results.
