Hot Honey Sauce combines the sweetness of honey with the heat of red pepper flakes to create a flavorful, versatile condiment that adds a spicy kick to a variety of dishes.

Ingredients

1 cup honey

2 teaspoons red pepper flakes (more or less to taste)

Instructions

  1. In a small saucepan, combine the honey and red pepper flakes over medium heat.
  2. Stir occasionally and bring the mixture to a gentle simmer. Let it cook for 3-4 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together. Be careful not to let it boil too vigorously.
  3. Once the sauce has thickened slightly and the red pepper flakes have infused the honey, remove it from the heat.
  4. Let the sauce cool slightly before using. Strain out the red pepper flakes if a smoother texture is preferred, or leave them in for extra flavor and heat.
  5. Drizzle over your favorite dishes or store in an airtight container for later use.

Notes

For more heat, add extra red pepper flakes or use a hotter pepper variety like crushed habanero.

If you prefer a milder sauce, reduce the red pepper flakes or omit them entirely.

Infuse the honey with garlic, ginger, or cinnamon for a more complex flavor.

Mix the hot honey with soy sauce or balsamic vinegar for a tangy glaze.
