This Insanely Good Strawberry Milkshake is a creamy, dairy-free treat bursting with fresh strawberry flavor. Made with a homemade strawberry sauce, dairy-free vanilla ice cream, and almond milk, it’s perfect for those avoiding dairy but craving a delicious milkshake. Optional toppings like coconut whipped cream and fresh strawberries add an extra special touch.

Ingredients

Strawberry Sauce

  • 3 cups fresh sliced strawberries, stems removed
  • ¼ cup organic cane sugar
  • ¼ cup water
  • ½ lemon, freshly-squeezed
  • 3 tablespoons strawberry preserves/jam
  • ¼ teaspoon Dessert Lover Blend (see notes for homemade option)

Milkshake

  • 2 cups dairy-free vanilla ice cream (e.g. So Delicious Dairy-Free)
  • 1 ½ cups almond milk (or whole milk or other plant-based milk)
  • Cooled strawberry sauce
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Optional Toppings

  • Coconut whipped cream
  • Sliced fresh strawberries
  • Cooled strawberry sauce drizzle
  • Rainbow sprinkles, vegan-friendly

Instructions

  1. Make the Strawberry Sauce: In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine sliced strawberries, organic cane sugar, water, and freshly squeezed lemon juice. Bring to a gentle simmer, stirring occasionally. Cook for about 10 minutes until the strawberries break down and sauce thickens slightly.
  2. Add Preserves and Flavor: Stir in strawberry preserves and the Dessert Lover Blend to the sauce. Cook for an additional 2 minutes to combine flavors. Remove from heat and let cool completely before using.
  3. Prepare the Milkshake: In a blender, combine the dairy-free vanilla ice cream, almond milk, cooled strawberry sauce, and vanilla extract. Blend until smooth and creamy.
  4. Serve: Pour the milkshake into glasses. Top with optional coconut whipped cream, sliced strawberries, additional cooled strawberry sauce, and vegan-friendly rainbow sprinkles if desired.

Notes

  • The Dessert Lover Blend is a special spice mix used for authentic flavor. For a homemade version, mix equal parts cinnamon, nutmeg, and allspice.
  • You can substitute almond milk with any other plant-based milk or regular whole milk if not dairy-free.
  • Use your favorite brand of dairy-free vanilla ice cream to keep it allergy-friendly.
  • The strawberry sauce can be made ahead and stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • Adjust sweetness by adding more or less sugar or preserves according to taste.
