Lettuce Wrap Burgers are a low-carb alternative to traditional burgers, using fresh, crunchy lettuce leaves instead of a bun. Filled with a juicy beef patty and your favorite toppings, they offer all the flavors of a classic burger without the carbs.

Ingredients

1 lb (450g) ground beef

Salt and pepper, to taste

1 tablespoon olive oil

Iceberg lettuce leaves (or any lettuce of your choice)

Burger toppings of your choice (e.g., tomato slices, onion slices, pickles, cheese slices, avocado slices)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Burger Patties: Season the ground beef with salt and pepper. Form into burger patties, ensuring they are slightly larger than the lettuce leaves to ensure a good wrap.
  2. Cook the Patties: Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for 4-5 minutes per side until browned and cooked to your desired doneness. Remove and let rest for a few minutes before slicing.
  3. Assemble the Lettuce Wrap Burgers: Lay out the lettuce leaves. Place a cooked patty on one or two large leaves, depending on the size of the lettuce. Top with your favorite toppings.
  4. Serve and Enjoy: Fold the lettuce around the burger and serve with your favorite dipping sauce or a light salad.

Notes

For a spicier twist, add jalapeño slices or hot sauce to your toppings.

To make the burger extra crispy, double-dip the patty in the egg and breadcrumbs before cooking.

If you prefer, you can grill the patties instead of pan-frying them.
