Pigs in a Puff Pastry Blanket

Flaky puff pastry wrapped around hot dogs, brushed with egg wash, and topped with sesame and poppy seeds for a fun and crowd-pleasing appetizer.

Ingredients

1 roll puff pastry

6 hot dogs, cut in half

1 egg, beaten

1 Tbsp sesame seeds

1 Tbsp poppy seeds

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Roll out puff pastry on a lightly floured surface and cut into 12 strips.
  3. Wrap each strip around a half hot dog and place seam-side down on the baking sheet.
  4. Brush with beaten egg and sprinkle with sesame and poppy seeds.
  5. Bake 18–20 minutes, until pastry is golden and puffed.
  6. Serve warm with ketchup, mustard, or dipping sauces.

Notes

Use cocktail sausages for bite-sized versions.

Add a slice of cheddar under the pastry for extra flavor.

Swap seeds for everything bagel seasoning for variety.

Freeze unbaked pigs in a blanket and bake directly from frozen.

Keep the seam-side down and edges pressed to prevent pastry from opening.
