Roasted turnips are a simple, healthy side dish that transforms this root vegetable into something sweet, tender, and savory with caramelized edges and warm seasoning.

Ingredients

1 ½ pounds turnips

1 tablespoon olive oil

½ teaspoon sea salt

½ teaspoon paprika

¼ teaspoon ground black pepper

¼ teaspoon garlic powder

Optional: chopped herbs like parsley or oregano

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Peel turnips, cut into 1-inch cubes, and place in a large bowl.
  3. Drizzle olive oil over turnips and add sea salt, paprika, black pepper, and garlic powder. Toss to coat evenly.
  4. Spread turnips in a single layer on prepared baking sheet.
  5. Roast for 25–30 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and tender.
  6. Sprinkle with fresh parsley or oregano before serving if desired.

Notes

Add honey or maple syrup before roasting for sweetness.
