Healthy Slow Cooker Applesauce made with a mix of apples, warm spices, and lemon juice. Naturally sweet with no added sugar, this easy recipe is perfect as a snack, side dish, or baking ingredient.

Ingredients

2 Honey Crisp apples

5 Golden Delicious apples

7 Gala apples

2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice (about 1 large lemon)

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg

Instructions

  1. Peel, core, and chop the apples into chunks, then add them to a slow cooker.
  2. Add lemon juice, cinnamon, and nutmeg, and stir to combine.
  3. Cover and cook on low for 6–7 hours or on high for 3–4 hours, until apples are soft.
  4. Mash with a potato masher for chunky applesauce, or blend with an immersion blender for smooth applesauce.
  5. Let cool before serving warm or storing for later.

Notes

Mix different apple varieties for balanced sweetness and flavor.

Leave peels on if blending for extra fiber and nutrients.

Add a splash of vanilla extract for warmth or mix in pears for variation.

Cook uncovered for the last 30 minutes for a thicker texture.

Can be canned using water bath method for long-term storage.
