Smoked Trout Dip is a creamy, smoky, and flavorful appetizer made with smoked trout, cream cheese, herbs, and lemon. Perfect for parties or casual gatherings, it pairs well with crackers, bread, or fresh vegetables.

Ingredients

8 oz smoked trout fillets

8 oz cream cheese

1 tbsp capers (increase by 2 tsp if desired)

1 tsp dried dill weed

1 tsp paprika

1 medium lemon (zest and juice)

2 tbsp fresh chives, finely chopped + 2 tsp for garnish

Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Remove any skin or bones from the smoked trout fillets.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine cream cheese, smoked trout, lemon juice, lemon zest, capers, dill, paprika, and chopped chives.
  3. Mix until smooth and well combined using a food processor for a creamier dip or a fork for chunkier texture.
  4. Taste and adjust seasoning with salt and pepper if needed.
  5. Transfer to a serving bowl, garnish with extra chives, and serve with crackers, bread, or vegetables.

Notes

Serve chilled or at room temperature for best flavor.

Add Greek yogurt or sour cream for extra tang.

Substitute smoked salmon if trout is unavailable.

Not suitable for freezing as texture changes.
