This spiced bourbon cider is a cozy, flavorful cocktail made with apple cider, bourbon, ginger, cloves, and bitters. It can be served hot or cold, making it perfect for autumn evenings or holiday gatherings.

Ingredients

4 oz apple cider

2 oz bourbon of choice (Maker’s Mark, Bulleit, or Buffalo Trace suggested)

Pinch fresh grated ginger

Pinch fresh grated cloves

1 tsp fresh lemon juice

6 drops Angostura bitters

Apple slice, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Pour apple cider into a shaker or mixing glass.
  2. Add bourbon, grated ginger, grated cloves, lemon juice, and Angostura bitters.
  3. Fill with ice and shake well until chilled.
  4. Strain into a glass filled with ice or serve neat.
  5. Garnish with a fresh apple slice before serving.

Notes

Can be served hot by gently warming the cider with spices before adding bourbon and lemon juice.

For extra spice, add cinnamon or nutmeg.
