This easy and creamy Tofu Hummus combines the smooth texture of silken tofu with the classic flavors of chickpeas, lemon, tahini, and spices, resulting in a delicious and nutritious dip perfect for spreading, dipping, or snacking.

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups cooked chickpeas (if using canned, be sure to rinse and drain them)
  • 10.5 ounces silken tofu or soft tofu (300g)
  • 2 tablespoons fresh squeezed lemon juice
  • 1/4 cup tahini
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin

Optional Garnishes

  • chopped parsley
  • a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil
  • smoked paprika
  • cayenne pepper

Instructions

  1. Prepare Ingredients: Ensure the chickpeas are properly rinsed and drained if canned, and have the silken tofu measured out.
  2. Combine in Blender: Add the cooked chickpeas, silken tofu, lemon juice, tahini, salt, and ground cumin into a food processor or blender.
  3. Blend until Smooth: Process the mixture until it reaches a creamy, smooth consistency, scraping down the sides as necessary to combine all ingredients evenly.
  4. Adjust Seasoning: Taste the hummus and add more salt, lemon juice, or cumin if desired for better flavor balance.
  5. Serve and Garnish: Transfer the hummus to a serving bowl, and optionally garnish with chopped parsley, a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil, smoked paprika, or a sprinkle of cayenne pepper.

Notes

  • Use silken tofu for the creamiest texture; firm tofu may result in a grainier dip.
  • Rinsing canned chickpeas removes excess sodium and reduces canning flavor.
  • This hummus stores well in the refrigerator for up to 4 days in an airtight container.
  • Adjust the consistency by adding a tablespoon of water or olive oil if too thick.
  • Feel free to customize with additional spices or roasted garlic for extra flavor.
