Quick, budget-friendly tuna burgers made with canned tuna, bread, and simple pantry staples. They are hearty, flavorful, and perfect for a weeknight meal or casual lunch.

Ingredients

1 (12-ounce) can tuna in water, drained

2 slices white bread, torn into small pieces

1 large egg

1/3 cup mayonnaise

1/4 cup finely diced celery

2 tablespoons diced red onion

1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Hamburger buns, lettuce, tomato slices, and tartar sauce for serving (optional)

Instructions

  1. Place the drained tuna in a mixing bowl and break it up with a fork.
  2. Add the bread pieces, egg, mayonnaise, celery, red onion, and black pepper.
  3. Mix everything until well combined and the mixture holds together.
  4. Shape into 4 medium-sized patties.
  5. Heat a lightly oiled skillet over medium heat.
  6. Cook patties for 3–4 minutes per side, until golden brown and heated through.
  7. Serve on hamburger buns with lettuce, tomato, and tartar sauce if desired.

Notes

Leftover patties can be stored in the fridge for up to 3 days.

Reheat in a skillet or oven to maintain texture.

Patties can also be baked at 375°F for 15–18 minutes.

Uncooked patties can be frozen for up to 2 months.

Variations: add cheese, hot sauce, or extra veggies like carrots or bell peppers.
