Delicious and easy-to-make 4-ingredient peanut butter balls coated in rich, melted semi-sweet chocolate. These no-bake treats are perfect for snacks, parties, or gifting, combining creamy peanut butter and butter with powdered sugar, dipped in chocolate for a sweet finish.

Ingredients

For the Peanut Butter Balls

  • 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 3 Tbsp salted butter, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar

For the Chocolate Coating

  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 Tbsp vegetable shortening or coconut oil (optional, for smoother melting)

Instructions

  1. Combine Peanut Butter Mixture: In a mixing bowl, blend the creamy peanut butter and softened salted butter together until smooth. Gradually add in the powdered sugar, stirring continuously until fully incorporated and the mixture forms a firm dough. Cover the bowl and refrigerate for about 15 minutes to allow the dough to firm up for easier shaping.
  2. Shape the Balls: Using clean hands, roll the chilled dough into 1-inch diameter balls. Arrange them evenly spaced on a baking sheet lined with parchment or wax paper. Cover the baking sheet and refrigerate for at least 20 minutes to help the peanut butter balls hold their shape during dipping.
  3. Melt the Chocolate: Following the package instructions, melt the semi-sweet chocolate chips, optionally adding vegetable shortening or coconut oil to achieve a smooth, glossy consistency that’s easy to dip.
  4. Dip and Set: Using a fork, carefully dip each peanut butter ball into the melted chocolate, allowing excess chocolate to drip off. Place the coated balls back onto the wax paper-lined baking sheet. Cover and refrigerate the dipped balls until the chocolate coating is firm and ready to serve.

Notes

  • For a dairy-free version, substitute butter with coconut oil and use dairy-free chocolate chips.
  • Store peanut butter balls in the refrigerator in an airtight container for up to one week.
  • Optionally, add a pinch of salt to the peanut butter mixture for enhanced flavor balance.
  • If you prefer a sweeter treat, increase powdered sugar slightly to taste.
