This delicious baked lobster tail recipe features tender lobster meat brushed with a flavorful garlic butter sauce, seasoned with smoked paprika, lemon juice, and fresh parsley, then broiled to perfection for an elegant dinner.

Ingredients

Seafood

  • 4 fresh lobster tails (each weighing about 6 to 8 ounces)

Garlic Butter Sauce

  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter (melted)
  • 3 cloves garlic (minced or pressed)
  • 1 teaspoon sweet or smoked paprika (or to taste)
  • ½ teaspoon salt (or to taste)
  • ½ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper (or to taste)
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley

For Serving

  • Lemon wedges

Instructions

  1. Prep: Thaw the lobster tails if they are frozen. Position the oven rack 4 to 6 inches from the heating element and preheat the broiler. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or foil, then place the lobster tails on the sheet.
  2. Prepare the lobster tails: Using kitchen shears, carefully cut along the middle of the top shell of each lobster tail toward the fins without cutting through the fins. Gently pull up the lobster meat from inside the shell without detaching it. Alternatively, use a spoon to separate the meat from the shell halves. Close the shells and rest the exposed meat on top of the seam.
  3. Make the garlic butter sauce: In a bowl, whisk together the melted butter, minced garlic, paprika, salt, black pepper, lemon juice, and chopped parsley until well combined. Brush this mixture over the lobster meat thoroughly. Optionally, reserve some sauce for dipping later.
  4. Cook: Broil the lobster tails for 6 to 8 minutes—about 1 minute per ounce—until the meat turns opaque and firm to the touch, indicating it is cooked through.
  5. Finish and serve: Remove from the oven carefully. Serve immediately with lemon wedges and additional garlic butter sauce for dipping if desired.

Notes

  • Do not overcook the lobster meat as it can become tough and rubbery.
  • Using smoked paprika adds a subtle smoky flavor, but sweet paprika can be used as a milder alternative.
  • You can prepare extra garlic butter sauce to serve on the side as a dipping sauce.
  • Broil time may vary depending on oven wattage and lobster tail size, so keep an eye to avoid burning.
  • If lobster tails are frozen, thaw them completely in the refrigerator overnight for best results.
