This refreshing Blueberry Popsicle recipe combines fresh blueberries, honey, and optional fresh basil to create a naturally sweet and vibrant frozen treat. Perfect for hot days, these homemade popsicles are easy to make using a blender and require no cooking. The addition of basil adds a unique herbal note, balancing the fruity sweetness. These popsicles are healthy, gluten-free, and a great way to enjoy fresh fruit in a fun, cool form.

Ingredients

Ingredients

  • 4 cups fresh blueberries (frozen works too)
  • ⅓ cup honey
  • ⅓ cup fresh basil (optional)

Instructions

  1. Blend Ingredients: In a blender or food processor, combine the blueberries, honey, and fresh basil if using. Blend on high speed for 1 to 2 minutes until the mixture is completely smooth and well combined.
  2. Prepare Popsicle Molds: Pour the blended mixture into popsicle molds, filling them carefully. Insert wooden popsicle sticks about three-quarters of the way down into each mold to ensure they hold while freezing.
  3. Freeze Popsicles: Place the molds in the freezer and allow them to freeze for at least 3 hours, or until fully set and solidified.
  4. Remove and Serve: To easily remove popsicles from the molds, run the outside of the molds under warm water for a few seconds to loosen them. Carefully pull out the popsicles and enjoy!

Notes

  • You can use frozen blueberries if fresh ones are not available; just thaw slightly before blending.
  • Strain the mixture through a fine sieve before pouring into molds if you prefer popsicles without any pulp or seeds.
  • Adjust honey amount according to desired sweetness or substitute with agave nectar for a different flavor profile.
  • Basil is optional but adds a fresh, herbal note that complements the blueberries well.
  • Store leftover popsicles in an airtight container in the freezer up to one week for best texture and flavor.
