Perfect for a fun snack or party treat, these chocolate-covered delights are simple to prepare and customizable to your favorite flavors.

Ingredients

Ingredients

  • 22-24 old-fashioned pretzel rods
  • 6 oz. semi-sweet, dark, or white chocolate, or candy melts (about 1 cup)
  • Sprinkles (for decorating)
  • Finely chopped nuts (for decorating)
  • Crushed candy canes (for decorating)
  • Shredded coconut (for decorating)
  • Mini M&M’s, chopped mini Reese’s PB cups, or toffee bits (for decorating)

Instructions

  1. Prepare workstation: Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper to create a clean area for dipping and decorating the pretzel rods efficiently.
  2. Melt chocolate: Melt the chocolate using a double boiler or microwave. If using a microwave, place the chocolate in a 2-cup glass measuring cup and heat in 20-second increments, stirring after each, until smooth. Add 1 tablespoon of coconut oil if the chocolate is too thick.
  3. Dip pretzels: Quickly dip each pretzel rod halfway into the melted chocolate, allowing excess chocolate to drip off. Place them on the prepared baking sheet.
  4. Add toppings: Immediately sprinkle your choice of toppings such as sprinkles, chopped nuts, crushed candy canes, shredded coconut, or mini candies over the wet chocolate coating while still on the baking sheet.
  5. Set chocolate: Refrigerate the baking sheet with dipped pretzels for about 20 minutes to allow the chocolate to harden, or leave them at room temperature for about 1 hour.
  6. Store: Once the chocolate is set, transfer the pretzels into an airtight container. Store at room temperature away from heat and direct light for up to 2 weeks.

Notes

  • Use different types of chocolate such as semi-sweet, dark, or white according to your preference.
  • If chocolate is too thick for dipping, adding a tablespoon of coconut oil helps achieve a smooth consistency.
  • You can mix and match toppings to customize each pretzel.
  • Ensure pretzels are completely dry before dipping to prevent chocolate from seizing.
  • Store covered in an airtight container to keep pretzels fresh and crunchy.
