This Creamy Hot Chocolate Mix is a rich and luscious blend that you can prepare in minutes and store for up to a year. Made with whole milk powder and semisweet chocolate, it delivers a decadent and smooth hot chocolate experience with minimal effort, perfect for cozy moments anytime.

Ingredients

Dry Mix Ingredients

  • 1 1/4 cups whole milk powder
  • 1 cup chopped semisweet chocolate
  • 3/4 cup confectioner’s sugar
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 2 Tbsp vanilla powder (optional)
  • 2 Tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 tsp salt

Instructions

  1. Grind the Chocolate: Add the chopped semisweet chocolate to the bowl of a food processor and pulse until it is finely ground to help it mix evenly with the other ingredients.
  2. Combine Ingredients: Add the whole milk powder, confectioner’s sugar, cocoa powder, vanilla powder (if using), cornstarch, and salt into the food processor with the ground chocolate. Process again until all ingredients are thoroughly combined. Alternatively, you can mix everything in a large bowl for an evenly blended mix.
  3. Store the Mix: Transfer the finished hot chocolate mix to an airtight container. Store it in a cool, dry cupboard where it will keep fresh for up to one year.
  4. Prepare Hot Chocolate: When ready to enjoy, use 3 to 4 tablespoons of the mix per cup of water or milk, depending on your preference for creaminess and richness.
  5. Heat the Drink: Slowly heat the water or milk and hot chocolate mix in a saucepan, whisking constantly to dissolve the powder completely. Heat until the mixture is steamy hot and smooth.
  6. Serve and Garnish: Pour into mugs and top with whipped cream and shaved chocolate if desired, for an indulgent finish.

Notes

  • You can substitute water with milk or a milk alternative for a creamier hot chocolate.
  • Vanilla powder is optional but adds a lovely depth of flavor.
  • Store the mix in an airtight container to maintain freshness and prevent clumping.
  • Adjust the amount of mix per cup to your taste preference – use less for a lighter drink or more for an intense chocolate flavor.
  • This mix keeps up to one year when stored properly.
