Ingredients

Sauce Ingredients

  • ¼ cup soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp rice vinegar
  • ¼ cup hoisin sauce
  • 1 tsp chilli flakes/red pepper flakes
  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • 2 tsp corn starch/cornflour
  • 2 tsp honey or sugar
  • 1 tsp garlic (minced)
  • ½ tsp ginger (minced)
  • ¼ cup spring onion/green onions (finely chopped)

Instructions

  1. Combine Ingredients: In a mixing bowl, combine soy sauce, rice vinegar, hoisin sauce, chili flakes, lemon juice, corn starch, honey, garlic, ginger, and finely chopped spring onions. Stir thoroughly until the mixture is smooth and all ingredients are well incorporated.
  2. Cook the Sauce: Pour the prepared sauce over your stir fry ingredients in a hot pan or wok. Cook while stirring continuously for 3-5 minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken and develop a glossy texture that clings perfectly to the stir fry components.

Notes

  • Adjust the amount of chili flakes to control the spiciness according to your preference.
  • For a vegan version, substitute honey with sugar or maple syrup.
  • Make sure to dissolve the corn starch properly to avoid lumps in the sauce.
  • This sauce pairs well with vegetables, chicken, beef, or tofu stir fries.
  • Serve immediately for the best texture and flavor.
