These Easy Air Fryer Chicken Wings with Lemon Pepper seasoning are a quick and flavorful appetizer or snack. Crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside, these wings are air fried to perfection and tossed in a zesty lemon pepper sauce balanced with honey for a touch of sweetness.

Ingredients

Chicken Wings

  • 1 pound chicken wings (about 10 wings, wingette and drummette separated)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil or avocado oil
  • 1 tablespoon lemon pepper seasoning
  • ½ teaspoon kosher salt

Lemon Pepper Sauce

  • ¼ cup melted butter or ghee
  • ½ tablespoon honey
  • 1 teaspoon finely grated lemon zest
  • 1 ½ tablespoons fresh lemon juice (from half the zested lemon)
  • 1 teaspoon lemon pepper seasoning
  • Pinch of kosher salt

Instructions

  1. Prep the wings: Preheat the air fryer at 390℉ (200℃) for 2 to 3 minutes. Meanwhile, pat the chicken wings dry with a paper towel to remove excess moisture, ensuring crispiness during cooking. Place them in a mixing bowl.
  2. Toss wings with seasoning and oil: Add olive or avocado oil, 1 tablespoon lemon pepper seasoning, and ½ teaspoon kosher salt to the wings. Toss well to coat evenly.
  3. Air fry the wings: Arrange the wings in an even layer in the air fryer basket, ensuring they are not crowded. Cook for 18 to 20 minutes, flipping the wings halfway through. To achieve even cooking and crispiness, shake or toss the basket every 5 minutes.
  4. Prepare the lemon pepper sauce: While wings cook, stir together melted butter or ghee, honey, lemon zest, fresh lemon juice, 1 teaspoon lemon pepper seasoning, and a pinch of salt in a small bowl. Mix until well combined and smooth.
  5. Serve: Once the wings are cooked through and crispy, serve them immediately. You can either serve the lemon pepper sauce on the side as a dipping sauce or toss the wings lightly in some of the sauce before serving for extra flavor.

Notes

  • Patting wings dry before cooking is key to achieving a crispy texture.
  • Shaking the air fryer basket during cooking helps ensure even crisping.
  • You can adjust the honey amount in the sauce for more or less sweetness.
  • For spicier wings, add a pinch of cayenne pepper or hot sauce to the seasoning or sauce.
  • Leftover wings can be stored in the fridge for up to 3 days and reheated in the air fryer to retain crispiness.
