Ready in just 15 minutes, this classic Asian-inspired dish is both satisfying and simple to prepare.

Ingredients

Sauce Ingredients

  • 2/3 cup reduced sodium soy sauce
  • 1/2 cup chicken stock
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons rice wine vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar (packed)
  • 3 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon Sriracha (or more, to taste)
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 1/4 cup water

Main Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 pound flank steak (thinly sliced across the grain)
  • 1 head broccoli (cut into florets)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the sauce: In a medium bowl, whisk together the reduced sodium soy sauce, chicken stock, honey, rice wine vinegar, brown sugar, minced garlic, sesame oil, cornstarch, Sriracha, ground ginger, red pepper flakes, and 1/4 cup water until smooth. Set the sauce mixture aside.
  2. Cook the steak: Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large cast iron skillet over medium-high heat. Add the thinly sliced flank steak and cook for about 3 to 4 minutes, flipping once, until the beef is nicely browned on both sides but not overcooked.
  3. Add broccoli and sauce: Stir the broccoli florets into the skillet with the beef, then pour in the prepared sauce. Continue to cook, stirring occasionally, for another 3 to 4 minutes until the broccoli is tender and the sauce has thickened slightly.
  4. Serve immediately: Once the broccoli is tender and the sauce coats the beef and vegetables well, remove from heat and serve immediately while hot.

Notes

  • For a spicier dish, increase the amount of Sriracha to taste.
  • Flank steak should be sliced thinly against the grain for tenderness.
  • If you prefer, substitute broccoli with other vegetables such as snap peas or bell peppers.
  • Serve over steamed rice or noodles for a complete meal.
  • Make sure not to overcook the beef to keep it tender and juicy.
