Delicious and easy-to-make Frozen Chocolate Bananas coated with rich dark chocolate and your choice of toppings such as chopped nuts, shredded coconut, dried fruit, or cacao nibs. A perfect refreshing treat that’s simple to prepare and enjoy anytime.

Ingredients

Bananas

  • 3 bananas

Chocolate

  • 6 oz dark chocolate

Toppings

  • Chopped nuts (as desired)
  • Shredded coconut (as desired)
  • Dried fruit (as desired)
  • Cacao nibs (as desired)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Bananas: Cut the bananas in half and carefully insert a popsicle stick into the cut end of each banana half.
  2. Peel Bananas: Peel each halved banana completely, handling gently to keep the shape intact.
  3. Freeze Bananas: Place the peeled bananas on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or wax paper and freeze for at least 2 hours until completely solid.
  4. Melt Chocolate: Place the dark chocolate in a small heatproof bowl and melt it by microwaving in 20-second intervals, stirring in between, or melt using a double boiler until smooth.
  5. Coat Bananas: Dip each frozen banana half individually into the melted chocolate, twirling to remove excess chocolate. Immediately sprinkle your chosen toppings onto the chocolate before it hardens, working quickly within a few seconds.
  6. Freeze Again: Place the coated bananas on a cooling rack or parchment paper and freeze for an additional 30 minutes to set the chocolate coating.
  7. Serve: Enjoy your frozen chocolate bananas straight from the freezer as a refreshing and delicious treat.

Notes

  • Make sure to freeze the bananas solid so the chocolate coating can set properly.
  • Use high-quality dark chocolate for the best taste and smoother coating.
  • Sprinkle toppings quickly after dipping because the chocolate hardens fast.
  • Store any leftover frozen bananas in an airtight container in the freezer for up to one week.
