This Grilled Sausage and Apple Pizza with Goat Cheese is a delicious and easy-to-make flatbread pizza that combines savory chicken and apple sausage with sweet Fuji apples, creamy goat cheese, and peppery arugula. Grilled to perfection for a smoky char, it’s finished with a bright honey vinaigrette that adds a lovely touch of sweetness and acidity. Perfect for a quick and flavorful meal, especially in warm weather.

Ingredients

Base & Toppings

  • 4 whole grain naan flatbreads
  • 2 Tbsp olive oil (for brushing)
  • 1 (12 oz) package Aidells Chicken & Apple Sausage
  • 2 cups thinly sliced apples (Fuji recommended)
  • 8 oz goat cheese
  • 2 cups baby arugula
  • Salt and pepper (to taste)

Honey Vinaigrette

  • 1 Tbsp olive oil
  • 1 1/2 tsp honey
  • 2 tsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 tsp fresh lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Grill: Heat your grill or grill pan over medium-high heat to prepare for cooking the naan and sausage.
  2. Grill the Naan: Brush both sides of each naan flatbread with olive oil. Place them on the grill and cook for 2 to 3 minutes per side until they develop char marks, indicating they’re warmed and slightly crispy.
  3. Cook the Sausages: While naan is grilling, place the chicken and apple sausages on the grill. Cook for 8 to 10 minutes, turning occasionally, until heated through. Remove from the grill and slice into 1/2-inch pieces.
  4. Assemble and Grill Pizzas: Top each grilled naan with 2 ounces of goat cheese, followed by apple slices and the sliced sausages. Return the pizzas to the grill and cook for an additional 4 to 6 minutes, until the goat cheese starts to melt slightly.
  5. Make the Honey Vinaigrette: In a small bowl, whisk together olive oil, honey, Dijon mustard, and fresh lemon juice until well combined. Set aside.
  6. Finish and Serve: Remove the pizzas from the grill. Top each with a handful of fresh baby arugula and drizzle with the honey vinaigrette. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Serve immediately and enjoy!

Notes

  • Whole grain naan adds a nutty flavor and extra fiber, but plain naan can be used if preferred.
  • Fuji apples provide a sweet crunch; Granny Smith can be substituted for a tarter bite.
  • Ensure the grill is hot before grilling naan to achieve nice char marks without drying it out.
  • If you do not have a grill, a grill pan or stovetop skillet can be used as alternatives.
  • Leftovers can be refrigerated and reheated in a skillet or oven for best texture.
