This Iced Brown Sugar Latte with Shaken Espresso is a delightful and refreshing coffee drink that blends the rich flavors of homemade brown sugar cinnamon syrup, robust espresso, and creamy oat milk. The shaken espresso adds a frothy texture and the chai or cinnamon infusion brings a warm, spiced note, making it the perfect treat for coffee lovers seeking a sweet and aromatic iced beverage.

Ingredients

Syrup Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cinnamon stick (or 1 teaspoon cinnamon)
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 3 chai tea bags (optional)

Latte Ingredients

  • 3 shots espresso
  • 2-3 dashes cinnamon
  • 1 cup oat milk (or milk of choice)

Instructions

  1. Make the Brown Sugar Syrup: In a small pot, bring 1 cup of water, brown sugar, and the cinnamon stick to a boil. Once boiling, reduce heat and simmer for 2-3 minutes until the sugar fully dissolves. Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract. If desired, add the chai tea bags, cover the pot, and steep for 10 minutes to infuse the syrup with warm chai flavors. Refrigerate the syrup for up to 2 weeks.
  2. Shake the Espresso: Fill a shaker glass with ice, then pour in the freshly brewed espresso shots. Add 2 to 4 tablespoons of the prepared brown sugar syrup and add a couple of dashes of cinnamon for extra spice. Shake vigorously for 1 minute to chill and combine the espresso and syrup thoroughly while creating a frothy texture.
  3. Assemble the Latte: Strain the shaken espresso mixture into a tall glass filled with ice. Slowly pour the oat milk over the espresso. Stir gently to incorporate all the flavors. Serve immediately and enjoy your refreshing iced brown sugar latte.
