Deliciously tender and flavorful crab legs baked to perfection in a garlic butter sauce with fresh lemon and parsley. This simple yet elegant seafood dish is perfect for a special dinner or an indulgent treat, featuring King, Dungeness, or Snow crab legs brushed with a rich blend of butter, garlic, olive oil, and lemon.

Ingredients

Crab Legs

  • 2 lbs crab legs (King, Dungeness, or Snow)

Garlic Butter Sauce

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 5-6 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 lemon, juiced
  • 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • Kosher or sea salt, to taste
  • Fresh parsley, minced

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Set your oven to 375°F (190°C) and allow it to reach the target temperature while you prepare the sauce.
  2. Make the garlic butter sauce: Melt the butter gently in a small saucepan over low to medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté lightly until fragrant but not browned. Stir in the fresh lemon juice and reduce the heat to low, letting the flavors meld. Season with kosher or sea salt and minced fresh parsley, then whisk in the extra virgin olive oil. Turn off the heat and keep the sauce warm.
  3. Arrange crab legs: Place the crab legs in a 9×13 inch baking dish. Brush each leg generously with the garlic butter sauce, then pour any remaining sauce over the legs to ensure they stay moist and flavorful during baking.
  4. Bake and baste: Put the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for about 25 minutes. Every 5 to 7 minutes, baste the legs again with the sauce to enhance flavor and moisture. Cooking time may vary depending on the thickness of the crab legs.
  5. Serve: Remove from the oven and garnish with extra lemon wedges and additional fresh parsley. Serve immediately with plenty of good bread to soak up the delicious buttery sauce.

Notes

  • Choose fresh or thawed crab legs for best results.
  • Adjust the amount of garlic to suit your taste preference.
  • Basting regularly helps keep crab legs moist and flavorful.
  • Using room temperature butter ensures it melts evenly and blends well with the other ingredients.
  • Serve with crusty bread or steamed vegetables for a complete meal.
