Ingredients

Pizza Base and Sauce

  • 1 pack store bought pizza dough (approx 440g/15.5oz)
  • 1/2 cup pizza sauce
  • 1 tbsp olive oil (for brushing)

Cheeses

  • 1.5 cup grated mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup feta cheese, crumbled

Vegetables and Toppings

  • 1/4 cup red onion, thinly sliced
  • 1/4 cup pitted Kalamata olives, sliced in half
  • 1/3 cup sun-dried tomatoes, sliced
  • 1/2 red pepper, thinly sliced
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh basil leaves (optional, for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 525℉ (274℃). Place a pizza pan inside the oven for about 5 minutes so it becomes thoroughly hot. Once heated, lightly brush the pan with olive oil to prevent sticking.
  2. Prepare Dough: Follow your package instructions for the pizza dough. On a lightly floured surface or parchment paper, shape the dough by pressing down the center and stretching it out with your hands to form a 12 to 13-inch circle, leaving the edges slightly raised. You may also use a rolling pin if you prefer.
  3. Transfer Dough to Pan: Carefully lift the shaped dough and slide it onto the preheated pizza pan, ensuring it lies evenly.
  4. Add Sauce: Spoon the pizza sauce onto the center of the dough, then spread it evenly with the back of a spoon. Leave about a 1-inch border around the edges for the crust.
  5. Add Cheese: Evenly sprinkle the grated mozzarella cheese over the sauced dough to create a rich base layer.
  6. Add Toppings: Arrange the sliced red onion, Kalamata olives, sun-dried tomatoes, and red pepper evenly over the mozzarella. Sprinkle dried oregano, crumble the feta cheese on top, and season with salt and pepper to taste.
  7. Oil the Crust: Brush the outer crust with olive oil to help it crisp and turn golden during baking.
  8. Bake the Pizza: Place the pizza in the oven and bake for 10 to 12 minutes, or until the cheese has melted completely and the crust is golden brown and crisp.
  9. Finish and Serve: Remove the pizza from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes. Garnish with fresh basil leaves and a drizzle of olive oil if desired. Slice into 8 pieces and serve warm.

Notes

  • Using a preheated pizza pan helps achieve a crispier crust.
  • You can substitute store-bought pizza sauces with homemade sauce for a fresher taste.
  • Adjust vegetables and toppings based on personal preference while maintaining Mediterranean flavors.
  • For extra crispness, consider baking the pizza on a pizza stone if available.
  • Allow the pizza to cool slightly before cutting to prevent cheese from sliding off.
