A creamy, tangy, and slightly sweet coleslaw that tastes just like restaurant-style slaw. Perfect as a refreshing side dish for BBQ, fried chicken, sandwiches, or grilled meats.

Ingredients

1 (16 ounce) bag coleslaw mix

2 tablespoons diced onion

⅔ cup creamy salad dressing (such as Miracle Whip)

½ cup white sugar

3 tablespoons vegetable oil

1 tablespoon white vinegar

½ teaspoon poppy seeds

¼ teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the coleslaw mix and diced onion.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together the creamy salad dressing, sugar, vegetable oil, vinegar, poppy seeds, and salt until smooth.
  3. Pour the dressing over the coleslaw mix and onion.
  4. Toss until the vegetables are fully coated.
  5. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving to allow the flavors to meld.
  6. Stir again before serving chilled.

Notes

Use mayonnaise instead of creamy salad dressing for a less sweet flavor.

Apple cider vinegar can replace white vinegar for extra tang.

Add shredded carrots or red cabbage for more color.

Mix in raisins, dried cranberries, or sunflower seeds for extra texture and sweetness.

Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Do not freeze.
