This Maple Glazed Salmon recipe features tender, flaky salmon fillets marinated in a sweet and savory glaze made from maple syrup, soy sauce, garlic, and ginger. The dish can be cooked either by baking or pan-searing, resulting in a beautifully caramelized exterior with a rich, flavorful bite. Perfect for a quick yet elegant meal, it pairs wonderfully with fresh garnishes like cilantro and sesame seeds for an added burst of color and taste.

Ingredients

Salmon and Marinade

  • 1 pound salmon fillets
  • ¼ cup maple syrup
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • ¼ teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic salt
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Optional Garnish

  • Fresh chopped cilantro
  • Sesame seeds

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Marinade: In a bowl, combine the maple syrup, soy sauce, minced garlic, grated ginger, garlic salt, and black pepper. Place the salmon fillets in a dish or a resealable plastic bag, then pour the marinade over the salmon, ensuring all pieces are evenly coated. Seal and refrigerate for anywhere between 30 minutes and 12 hours to allow the flavors to infuse.
  2. Choose Cooking Method – Baking: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking dish with parchment paper or foil, then place the salmon skin-side down on the dish. Bake for about 20 minutes, or until the salmon flakes easily with a fork and is cooked through.
  3. Choose Cooking Method – Pan-Searing: Heat a non-stick skillet over medium-high heat and add a small amount of oil. Once hot, place salmon fillets skin-side down in the skillet. Sear for 4 to 5 minutes until the skin turns crispy and golden brown. Carefully flip the salmon and cook for another 3 to 4 minutes until the salmon is cooked through.
  4. Garnish and Serve: Transfer the cooked salmon to serving plates, garnish with freshly chopped cilantro and sprinkle with sesame seeds if desired. Serve immediately with your preferred sides such as steamed vegetables or rice.

Notes

  • For best results, marinate the salmon for at least 30 minutes but no more than 12 hours to prevent the soy sauce from overpowering the flavor.
  • Adjust salt carefully since soy sauce and garlic salt already add saltiness to the dish.
  • Baking is preferred for an easy, hands-off method, while pan-searing gives a crispier salmon skin if desired.
  • The recipe can be doubled or adjusted to serve more people by increasing ingredient quantities proportionally.
  • Use fresh, high-quality salmon for the best texture and flavor.
