This Cream Cheese & Shrimp Dip is a deliciously creamy and tangy appetizer perfect for parties and gatherings. Combining tender cooked shrimp with cream cheese, mayonnaise, sour cream, and zesty cocktail sauce, this dip is enhanced with Creole seasoning and hot sauce for a flavorful kick. Ready in just 20 minutes, it’s ideal for serving with crackers, bread, or fresh vegetables.

Ingredients

Shrimp Dip Ingredients

  • 1 pound cooked large shrimp (peeled, deveined, tail off)
  • 8 ounces cream cheese (softened)
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup cocktail sauce
  • 1 tablespoon All Purpose Creole Seasoning or Old Bay Seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon hot sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • Chopped chives (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Shrimp: Roughly chop the cooked shrimp so that part of it mixes well into the dip. Reserve about 1/2 cup of the chopped shrimp separately to use as a topping later.
  2. Mix Creamy Base: In a medium bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, mayonnaise, and sour cream. Use a hand mixer or a whisk to blend these ingredients together until the mixture is smooth and creamy.
  3. Add Flavorings: Stir in half of the cocktail sauce, followed by the hot sauce, Creole or Old Bay seasoning, and Worcestershire sauce. Mix until all ingredients are evenly incorporated, creating a flavorful dip base.
  4. Fold in Shrimp: Gently fold in all of the chopped shrimp except for the 1/2 cup set aside for topping. This ensures the dip has a chunky, shrimp-filled texture without overwhelming the creamy consistency.
  5. Assemble and Serve: Spoon the dip into a shallow serving bowl or spread on a platter. Top with the remaining cocktail sauce and reserved shrimp. Sprinkle chopped chives over the top for a fresh, vibrant garnish. Serve immediately with crackers, bread, or vegetable sticks.

Notes

  • Use peeled and deveined cooked shrimp for convenience; fresh steamed shrimp can also be used.
  • Adjust the amount of hot sauce and Creole seasoning to match your preferred spice level.
  • For a thicker dip, chill the mixture for 30 minutes before serving.
  • This dip pairs well with assorted crackers, pita chips, or crunchy vegetable sticks like celery and bell peppers.
  • Store leftovers covered in the refrigerator for up to 2 days; stir gently before serving.
